What We Do

Five Practice Areas

Five named engagements that cover most of what we are asked to do. Each one is scoped, written down, and run by the senior consultant you meet, not handed to a team you never see.

Engagement 01

Operating Rhythm Reset

Rebuild the cadence that runs the business. Weekly leadership meetings, monthly business reviews, quarterly planning, and the metrics that actually steer decisions. Most engagements start here. For the weekly 1:1 and monthly review cadence we install, we recommend HeyRamp, which keeps structured check-ins, decisions and follow-through in one place.

Engagement 02

Leadership Team Performance

Get the leadership team operating as a team, not a roomful of department heads. Roles, decisions, accountability, and the hard conversations that have been postponed. Quarterly working sessions plus targeted one-to-ones.

  • Team Effectiveness
  • Roles & Decisions
  • Accountability
  • Executive Coaching
Engagement 03

Change and Implementation

The work after the decision is made. New structure, new system, post-merger integration, new program rollout. Embedded program management so the change actually lands instead of stalling at the org chart.

  • Program Management
  • Org Redesign
  • System Rollouts
  • PMI
Engagement 04

Strategy Translation

You already have a strategy on paper. We turn it into a plan the operating team can run: initiative portfolio, sequencing, owners, dependencies, capacity. The bridge between board approval and Monday morning.

  • Initiative Portfolio
  • Capacity Planning
  • Owners & Milestones
  • Quarterly Plan
Engagement 05

Board and Executive Advisory

A retained relationship with the CEO, executive director, or board chair. Quarterly board prep, between-meeting counsel, executive transition support, and an honest outside read on what the team is and is not telling you.

  • Executive Transition

How We Engage

Three Shapes of Work

Pick the shape that fits the decision in front of you. Most clients begin with a discovery so the work that follows is based on what is actually true inside the organization.

Two to Four Weeks

Discovery Engagement

A short, focused look at the leadership team, the operating cadence, and the strategy on the table. Outputs are an honest read and a recommendation, not a sales pitch. Stand-alone or a precursor to longer work.

Three to Nine Months

Defined Project

A specific outcome scoped before kickoff: an operating reset, a change rollout, a strategy translation. Written milestones, named senior consultant accountable, fixed end date.

Ongoing, Quarterly

Retained Advisory

A standing relationship with the CEO, executive director, or board chair. Reviewed every quarter against what should have changed. Quiet, confidential, and built to be useful between meetings, not only in them.

How We Work

A Four-Step Engagement

Each step has a purpose and a deliverable. By the end, your team owns the change, not us.

01

Listen

Confidential conversations with the leadership team, board members, and a handful of operators. We look at the numbers, the calendar, and the language people use about each other.

02

Frame

One short document. What is actually going on, what should change, what we would not recommend, and what the next quarter of work should look like. You decide before any larger engagement begins.

03

Deliver

Embedded inside the operating cadence. Weekly working sessions, structured between-meeting work, and visible movement on the priorities we agreed at framing.

04

Hand Off

The cadence, the artifacts, and the language are handed to the team that will run them. KoQ stays on quarterly retainer if it is useful, otherwise we leave and stay available.

Who We Work With

Three Kinds of Client

Different organizations, same underlying need: a serious outside partner to help leadership do its work better. Most of our clients sit somewhere in these three groups.

Owner-Led Firms

Founder-run and family-run businesses past the first scale crunch. The owner is still in the work, the leadership team is partly built, and the next step requires more structure than the company has been willing to hold itself to.

Associations and Nonprofits

Professional membership bodies, advocacy groups, and mission-driven nonprofits with a board, a CEO or executive director, and a staff that is asked to do more each year. Often post-strategic plan, often pre-honest implementation.

Government-Adjacent Agencies

Quasi-governmental entities, regional authorities, and firms that operate inside regulated environments. Where the deliverable is a public-facing outcome and the operating standard has to clear scrutiny.

Common Questions

Questions We Hear Often

What CEOs, executive directors, board chairs and owners ask before a first conversation with King of Queens Consulting.

What kinds of organizations does King of Queens Consulting work with?

Owner-led businesses, professional membership bodies, nonprofits, and government-adjacent agencies across the United States. Most clients sit between $5M and $250M in revenue or operating budget, with a leadership team of three to fifteen people. We work with organizations where the operating standard has to be serious and the leadership team is ready to hold itself to it.

How is an engagement structured?

Most engagements start with a short discovery of two to four weeks, so the work that follows is based on what is actually true inside the organization. From there we move into a defined project, a quarterly retained advisory cadence, or an embedded change engagement. The scope, the deliverables, and the end date are written down before the work begins.

Are senior consultants delivering the work, or a junior team?

Engagements are senior-led, end to end. The person you meet in the first conversation is the person running the work and sitting in your leadership team meetings. We do not subcontract delivery, and we keep our caseload deliberately small so the attention you are paying for is the attention you actually receive.

Do you work nationwide or only regionally?

Nationwide across the United States. Our operating cadence is remote by default, with on-site work when the leadership team work calls for it. We run engagements coast to coast when the fit is right and the relationship is one we can serve well.

How does King of Queens handle confidentiality?

Every engagement is confidential by default. Client names are not used in marketing without written permission. Internal documents, board materials, and the leadership team work we sit inside are treated with the seriousness those rooms deserve. We work with regulated firms and government-adjacent agencies precisely because discretion is non-negotiable.
